Seed Swap
Sustainable Devizes holds an annual Seed Swap event on a Saturday around mid February in St Andrew's Church. This is a great opportunity to trade seeds for free in advance of the growing season. The basic idea of the event is for people to bring along any spare seeds they may have to swap for different types of seed that they may wish to try growing.
We particularly encourage people to save their own seed and to bring that along. This is an effective way of preserving heirloom varieties of plant which are largely ignored by the major seed companies. If you want to try saving your own seed check out this page from Real Seeds.
Past seed swap events have included stalls from the following organisations and individuals. We would like to thank them for their help.
- Wiltshire Wildlife Trust
- Paul Jupp from Meadow in my Garden
- David Brown from Kennet Beekeepers Association
- Vince Wakefield from Rutts Lane Cider
- Milly Carmichael, from Transition Marlborough
- Children and staff from Five Lanes Primary School
- Roses of Devizes
Please check our events page for the date of the next seed swap event..
